Sometimes, world owners need to do maintenance on their own worlds but vortex portals prevent that.
This is why “Ignore auto-portals” should be a setting released to the public, just instead of globally, it would only apply to owned worlds.
We do need this feature because there is a number of cases where a vortex portal redirects you to another world before you can even touch and edit a world…
Ahh, the OG times of everybody edits where world owners had god mode, fly and noclip in their own worlds… now we cannot even have basic edit tools
I think world owners being able to avoid them would encourage more people to set up traps to troll people. Even making worlds I never run into these problems, but I guess that’s because I don’t automatic portals in places that could accidentally or forcefully send you into them.
But seriously, we need to finally give more power to people which own worlds. They “own” the world but in reality the admins have alot more control than them.
And making the setting public would also prevent hardlocks on worlds where you literally cannot edit a world even if you’re the owner.
Autoportals are literally the plague. They’re the only cases of uneditable worlds & troll worlds, and of course moderators can bypass that like EVERY SINGLE THING IN THE GAME. We don’t want a game where the normal, non-moderator users feel like they’re constantly being restricted while the admins go and showcase their exclusive awesome features.
Everybody Edits, for example DID make a god mode feature which was available to not only admins, but also world owners and there was even a block that granted temporary access to god mode. In god mode, you can fly and noclip, but it’s YOUR world, and nobody cared about YOUR worlds. The only added powers admins had in others’ worlds is adding labels, and global edit permissions.
In PW, you place a lock, and? You get protection from others editing, which is useless as an admin can just go, enable their admin powers and destroy it, world ban powers with no settable ban time, ONLY and STRICTLY 1 hour (moderators have immunity and you only get “Access Denied!” if you try and ban), and a fancy golden lock next to your username. That isn’t “owning” a world, just getting extra privileges for your world.
I’m absolutely OK with admins having permissions such as game ban, or access to reports, and stuff like that, but admins having 3x as much control over your world than you have is NOT OK. You can put up a sign which literally says “No panorama cameras!” yet mods/admins just go ahead and pretend they didn’t read that and use the camera anyway, nothing preventing them unlike normal users which have to abide.
Mods and admins cannot use panorama cameras in worlds that have a sign, and there’s never been an instance of an admin destroying someone world without a valid reason and even with one they usually just take ownership.
I’m confused on your suggestion with the bypass auto portals because you suggested that world owners allow it. If you don’t want to get sucked into a portal and you are the world owner why not just use a regular portal. If you aren’t the world owner then the world owner set it up like that on purpose and giving people the ability to bypass it would limit their ownership of the world because a block they placed intentionally would then become completely useless.
All of the mod tools aren’t used unless they are needed, or at least shouldn’t be. And usually when we do use them to override a portal or anything like that it’s because we need to get into the world to see what’s going on and do our job from there.
I’m not against your ideas on “god mode” in your own world but at the end of the day the developers have made the game how it is for a reason (most likely scams but I can’t speak for them).
